Hydrodiversity, blue heritage and sustainable development: diagnosis and proposals for action on surfing in Cantabria

  • Description: This project is led by PI Prof. Juan Jose Gonzalez-Trueba (GIMENA). GeoOcean has worked in the analysis of the variability of the surf resource in Cantabria by means of the combination of global wave data (numerical, satellite), hydrodynamic models and data mining techniques. The steps of the methodology are:
  • 1) Definition of parameters that define the quality of surfing.
  • 2) Estimation of the parameters along the Cantabrian coast.
  • 3) Development of a Surf Quality Index.
  • 4) Validation of the Index.
  • 5) Temporal variability of the Index.
  • 6) Spatial variability of the Index.
