Description: In this cooperative agreement between CSIRO and our group, we aim to improve several multi-variate hybrid statistical-dynamical frameworks capable of exploring sources of variability across multiple timescale and climate scenarios. The primary application would be to determine TC-induced wave and water level extremes and related hazards, particularly local coastal inundation, in different coastal areas in Australia and in some small island states in South Pacific. In the second phase, hybrid downscaling/prediction of local coastal water level and wave dynamics based on weather type (WT) techniques will be developed.
